Principal's Message

Mapleton Families,

Welcome back Mapleton Eagles! We hope the summer season was filled with enjoyable experiences and lasting memories were made. We extend a special welcome to families who are joining our school for the first time, and can’t wait to share our longstanding traditions with you! Mapleton Elementary is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and all it has to offer. With high expectations for each student, our staff strives to make connections to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. We are anxiously awaiting your arrival.  Bring your energy and enthusiasm for learning as we “Soar to New Heights”, beginning Thursday, August 17th!

During the 2023-2024 school year, Mapleton will continue utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance instructional design and delivery. Teachers and administrators have analyzed student performance data and attended content-specific professional development sessions. We gained more information on improving practices with guided reading, composition, and mathematical fluency and conceptual understanding. We’re also very excited to share that we’re implementing new Science and Social Studies curriculum this school year. With innovative, standard-aligned resources (print and digital), students will connect civil practices, as well as take on roles of scientists and engineers to investigate real-world phenomena. These inquiry-based experiences are sure to strengthen critical thinking skills.

Mapleton will also continue fostering a student-centered culture where student achievement is celebrated often. Students will practice setting and achieving both academic and social goals, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and making responsible decisions. This summer, we revamped our PBIS signage that proudly displays our schoolwide expectations. Families and students will now see our school mascot reminding students to, “Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible” throughout common areas. We can’t wait to share our school spirit with you!

Our Mapleton family continues to grow with new students and staff each year. Please help us welcome Mrs. Megan Cowles (Preschool), Miss Mackenzie Fryman (Kindergarten), Mrs. Chelsea Murphy (First Grade), Mr. John Engelbrecht (Second Grade), and Mrs. Kimberly Lager (Fifth Grade). We can’t wait to introduce additional members, such as our new MSD teacher and FRYSC Coordinator, at Open House!
